Cardiorespiratory fitness in professional pole dancers
Trnková, Jiřina ; Herdová, Barbora (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jan (referee)
This thesis is devoted to cardiorespiratory fitness in professional pole dancers. The theoretical part describes the specifics of pole dance exercise and its effect on human body. The thesis further contains the introduction to exercise physiology and diagnostics. Methods: 8 performance female pole dancers competing in professional/elite category took part in the study. All probands completed two exercise tests - a laboratory and a field exercise test. Probands' cardiorespiratory fitness was assessed in a laboratory maximal exercise test. In field exercise test we investigated the exercise intensity in a simulated pole sport competition. Exercise variables were monitored in both tests using a portable metabolic analyzer VO2 Master Pro. Results: The average values during maximal spiroergometry test were VO2peak 46,1 ml/min/kg a Wpeak 3,7 W/kg. Probands' cardiorespiratory fitness was above average ( 0,03 < p < 0,04). The average pole dance performance intensity was 89 % TFmax (158 bpm) and 79 % VO2peak (36,2 ml/min/kg), the peak values were 96 % TFmax (178 bpm) and 110 % VO2peak (50,6 ml/min/kg). More than a half of the pole dance performance was performed above the intesity of anaerobic threshold (p = 0.019). Conclusions: Performance pole dancers are more fit than the average population (VO2peak is...

Busta, Jan ; Bílý, Milan (advisor) ; Novotný, Petr (referee)
Title: Comparison of the results of aerobic exercise testing while kayak paddling whith crank ergometry of upper limbs. Aims: The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the results of aerobic execise diagnostics of 6 elite kayakers (white water slalom) when paddling of flat water with crank ergometry of upper limbs. The results obtained when paddling on flat water were also compared with results obtained when paddling in the pool with counter (bachelor thesis). Based on the results we wanted to answer the question about the possible use specific forms of stress diagnosis (spiroergometry) in routine practice of training proces. Methods: We used standardized laboratory spiroergomtry stress test at crank ergometry of upper limbs and spiroergometry stress test when paddling on flat water of the same protocol. To obtain the functional values of physiological indicators in both test we used mobile spiroergometry equipment Cortex Metamax 3B and sporttester Polar. Feedback of probands were identified based on suervey with closed questions. Results: Testing kayakers reached when paddling on flat water the average functional values: heart rate (HR) 188,5 (±8,77) beats per minute, maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max.) 56 ml.kg.min-1 (±6.31); maximum ventilation (VMAX.) 127.31 l.min-1 (±15.16);...

Impact of home- based physical training programme on values of pulmonary function test and aerobic exercise capacity of children with cystic fibrosis
Štefanová, Petra ; Plešková, Jana (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
This diploma thesis takes interest in the issue of physical activities of children with cystic fibrosis, in possible impacts of such activities on clinical condition, in options of prescription of physical activities based on the actual clinical state of a person with cystic fibrosis, and in options of objectification of changes induced by an exercise programme. The theoretic part of this thesis summarizes the current findings about cystic fibrosis, therapy and physical activities in the context of prognosis of patients with cystic fibrosis. In experimental part, we performed examinations on few participants, who were willing to perform a home-based exercise programme. Also, we made a short exploratory questionnaire focused on the attitude of children with cystic fibrosis towards physical exercises. Methodology: We observed the evolution of maximal oxygen uptake VO2max, forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC) and of the scores of 1- minute sit-to-stand test (1-MSTST). All the measurements were performed before and after 12- weeks long exercise intervention. The inclusion criteria were diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, age over 10 years, FEV1 over 60 % predicted and no present signs of an acute exacerbation. Participants were assessed by spirometry examination,...
Dance training and its effect on dancers' cardiorespiratory fitness
Tůmová, Jitka ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Name Dance training and its effect on dancers' cardiorespiratory fitness Objective The aim of this bachelor thesis is to assess the effect of dance training on cardiorespiratory fitness of dance students using Step-test. Method The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis has the character of a literature review. The practical part has the character of quantitative research conducted on six female dance students aged 15-17 years old. This is therefore a case study. The evaluation of cardiorespiratory fitness was tested using Step-test in a field conditions. Part of the research project is the record and analysis of all training activities. Results Out of six female students, three students achieved a significant improvement in the level of their cardiorespiratory fitness, on the av. by 23,03 % ± 2,6 %. Two students showed insignificant improvement, on the av. by 2,3 % ± 1,3 % and one student's final values recorded insignificant decline by 0,94 %. The current level of cardiorespiratory fitness of the dancers plays an important role. The higher are the initial values measured during testing, the smaller the training-induced changes. The structure of the dance training at the dance school is sufficient for the cultivation of cardiorespiratory fitness only up to a certain level of fitness of average...
Comparison of different exercise protocols
Simonianová, Lucie ; Procházka, Michal (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis was to summarize current findings about exercise testing. The main goal was to evaluate protocols used in daily practice, their indications and benefits, comparability and parameters that can influence the results. The purpose of the practical part was to compare the maximal values of physiological parameters (heart rate, VO2, minute ventilation, RER, power output and rated perceived exertion) for the two most commonly used protocols for bicycle ergometry tests in the Czech Republic. We compared ramp (1/3W.kg-1 .min-1 ) and step (1W.kg-1 every 3 min) incremental protocols to exhaustion. Thirteen young, healthy and physically fit subjects (9 males and 4 women aged from 20 to 31 years) underwent two tests in separate occasions, during which they performed the protocols in random order. Paired t-test was used to statisticaly analyze the data. We found no statisticaly significant differences in these maximal values except for the exercise test time. We deduced some practical benefits of each protokol from obtained data.
